Stasher Review: The Travel Tool that solves a Common Problem
You are away for the weekend. Your check out is 11am. Your flight home isn’t until 8pm. You want to explore the city for the rest of the day without having to carry your suitcase around.
That’s exactly the problem Stasher is designed to solve.
Stasher is an online booking service for luggage storage. It has a network of over 10,000 storage locations, known as Stashpoints, in around 1,200 cities over 85 countries. Stashpoints are typically located in hotels, restaurants, convenience stores and offices (although they do have lockers too) where you can safely leave your bags in an easily accessible location.
My personal experience of Stasher
I used it a few months ago for the first time in New York. We had been staying in Long Island but wanted to spend the final day in Manhattan before taking an evening flight home. I booked a Stashpoint at a hotel a couple of blocks away from Penn Station where we left our bags for most of the day while we went for breakfast at a New York diner and did some shopping. Later, after walking the length of Central Park, we returned to the hotel to collect our bags, walked back to Penn and jumped on the train to JFK. 10/10 from me.

How does Stasher Work?
Booking via the Stasher app or website is straightforward. Choose your location, date(s) and drop off/collection times and you will see a selection of Stashpoints in the area. Simply select the most convenient location for you from the map, choose the size and quantities of luggage you want to drop off and pay. You then take your luggage to the Stashpoint, show your email confirmation and then get on with your day.
Where can I use Stasher?
Stasher has an extremely strong presence in the UK (over 200 towns & cities), Italy, France, Germany and the US, although in most European countries you should not have a problem finding storage locations in the major cities.
Is Stasher safe?
For additional peace of mind, luggage is guaranteed up to £1,000 for theft or damage although there are some exclusions such as mobile phones, keys, wallets and passports,
How Much Does Stasher Cost?
Costs are dependent on the size of luggage and the length of time you want to store your bag. Typical charges in the UK are as follows:
- Extra small (Small handbags, tote bags): 50p booking fee plus £99p per day
- Small (Small backpacks): £2 booking fee plus £3.49 per day
- Medium (Hand luggage, cabin bags): £2 booking fee plus £4.49 per day
- Large (Suitcases, checked luggage): £2 booking fee plus £5.49 per day
Bookings can be cancelled for a 50% refund or 100% coupon to be used against a future Stasher booking.
We also compared the costs between different cities for a 1 day drop-off and the costs were pretty similar. The UK was generally priced lower than the US but higher than the European cities we sampled although everywhere was broadly similar. When researching the prices, I noticed that there were Stashpoints in a couple of cities that charged a bit more than the below prices so try a few different places to make sure you get the best price.
| London | Edinburgh | Dublin | Amsterdam | Bucharest | Zurich | New York | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Extra Small | £1.49 | £1.49 | £1.72 | £1.72 | £1.86 | £1.72 | £1.86 |

Overall
Stasher is a simple service and clearly not the most exciting travel tool you’ll ever use, but it solves a common problem. Whether you are arriving before check-in, leaving long after checkout or squeezing in some sightseeing before a flight, being able to safely leave your bags behind can transform a wasted day into part of your trip.
For that reason alone, it’s one of those travel services that’s worth knowing about before you need it.
