Best Sites to Search for Avios Reward Flights
Finding Avios reward flights can be frustrating. You might be flexible on dates, willing to fly to several different destinations or simply looking for the elusive two Business Class seats – but repeatedly searching individual dates on airline websites can quickly become a thankless task.
Fortunately, there are several websites that allow you to search reward availability across a much wider range of dates, with some also offering useful features such as availability alerts, multiple-destination searches and the ability to see how many reward seats are available.
We tested the main free and paid options to see how they compare, looking at which airlines they cover, the information they show, how easy they are to use and whether they can help with things such as British Airways American Express Companion Vouchers.
There isn’t one search tool that is best at everything. Avios’ own new Reward Flight Finder is our favourite free option for straightforward BA, Iberia and Aer Lingus searches, while other tools are better if you want alerts, connecting flights or a wider selection of OneWorld airlines.
Here’s what we found.
Which is the right site to use?
| Best for | Our pick |
|---|---|
| Best free all-rounder | avios.com Find Reward Flights |
| Best for detailed BA/Iberia searches | Flight Time Calendar |
| Best for oneworld availability | Qantas Flight Reward Finder |
| Best for alerts | SeatSpy / Reward Flight Finder |
| Best for multiple destinations | BA / Qantas (for different reasons) |
| BA Companion Voucher | avios.com Find Reward Flights |
British Airways Reward Flight Finder
BA’s reward flight search only shows availability on BA flights but is the only one of the Avios search websites that allows you to search for multiple city destinations at the same time. Apart from that, the search facility is pretty slow and there is little additional information shown on the screen when the calendar of availability is shown on the screen. Seeing availability for each cabin class can be done by changing the radio buttons above the calendar.

You can find the BA Reward Flight Finder website here.
avios.com Find Reward Flights
Avios have recently launched this new search function and we feel that this is the best free option out there at the moment. In one search you can see reward flight availability for BA, Iberia and Aer Lingus, plus one quick click shows you the number of available seats on each flight. In addition, if you have a BA American Express Companion Voucher, it will show you the additional seat availability for that too. Currently you can only see direct flights but connecting itineraries are promised soon.

You can search the Avios website for reward flights here.
Qatar Airways Award Flight Finder
Currently, the only way to find Qatar Airways reward flight availability is to use their Flight Reward Finder. Unfortunately the user experience is not great. At the time we tested the website, the functionality to search for connecting flights was not working so all we could do was find flights to/from Doha.
As the above image shows, Economy searches show the cost in Avios on each day but when searching for premium (business/first) class flights, you are only presented with the word “available” on the relevant date. This then means further clicks and waiting only to potentially discover that the standard reward price ticketing is unavailable and the only Avios tickets are in the flexi category at twice the regular amount.
An additional frustration is that you cannot split the search between first and business classes, and the website logs you out after a few minutes of inactivity.

Qatar Airways Award Flight Finder can be found here
Qantas Flight Reward Finder
This is not a traditional Avios availability checker but it is a fantastic way of showing a lot of oneworld alliance reward flight availability including BA, Finnair, Iberia, Qantas, Cathay Pacific, Malaysia Airlines and American Airlines. You can search for multiple destinations or by region, it works with connecting flights plus you can easily see the flight timings and number of seats available.
However, there are a few downsides, including the fact you cannot search for JAL or Qatar Airways and only major airports are included. Qantas also shows reward availability on some partner airlines, including Emirates and Air France – these aren’t relevant when searching for flights you can book with Avios, so you can ignore them for the purposes of this guide
Many oneworld airlines make reward seats available to partner frequent-flyer programmes. This means a reward seat showing to Qantas can be a useful indication that the same flight may also be bookable with Avios through British Airways – although partner availability doesn’t always match exactly.
I used this site to find business class tickets to fly to the World Cup and despite the few downsides, I can highly recommend it.

Check availability here (no login required either).
Flight Time Calendar
This is a pretty basic looking but powerful website which focuses on BA and Iberia availability. When you have searched for your desired route there is a lot of information presented on the screen, but in one place you are shown the number of available reward flights by cabin for every flight on each day of the month. If you click on the flight you want, you can also see the amount required in taxes and charges too. Qatar availability is currently in testing and an email alerts facility is apparently in the pipeline too.
There is a pro option available to purchase but unfortunately the features & benefits are not detailed on the website at present.

Avios Reward Flight Alerts
If the reward seats you want aren’t currently available, another option is to set up Avios reward flight alerts. Both SeatSpy and Reward Flight Finder offer this functionality, although their more useful features require a paid subscription
SeatSpy
SeatSpy offers a comprehensive search facility for BA, Cathay Pacific, Iberia and Qantas, as well as other airlines outside the oneworld alliance. This is a more premium product, offering alert notifications when your desired flights become available. The free version is restricted to economy seats only and one daily alert, however pay options unlock unlimited searches in all cabins, multiple alerts at the same time and will let you know when the seats you want become available instantly.
Other nice features are the ability to filter by specific flight (say you want the BA1234 but are not fussed on the exact date) or filter by time (when you need a flight that leaves before 10am).
SeatSpy is currently testing the additional BA Amex companion voucher award availability which should be a nice further enhancement.
In the past, I have paid for SeatSpy on a number of occasions in order to secure the flights I wanted and I have been very happy with it.

Reward Flight Finder
Reward Flight Finder is another site geared around alerts when new flight availability is added to the available inventory. Like SeatSpy, the free tier is restricted to economy flights and one alert a day, with pay options for all cabins and more frequent alerts.
We particularly like the “Where can I go?” search option which allows members to search all destinations for a given range of dates, a great idea for those who have less flexibility in their travel schedule.

Our Take
There isn’t one reward flight search tool that we’d use for every Avios booking.
For most people, we’d start with Avios Find Reward Flights. It’s free, searches British Airways, Iberia and Aer Lingus in one place and shows the number of reward seats available. The ability to include the additional availability unlocked by a British Airways American Express Companion Voucher makes it particularly useful for BA collectors.
Flight Time Calendar is another impressive free option. The presentation isn’t as polished, but the amount of information shown for BA and Iberia flights makes it extremely useful if you want to compare availability across an entire month.
If we’re searching more widely across the oneworld network, we’d also check Qantas Flight Reward Finder. It isn’t specifically designed for Avios collectors and availability isn’t 100% guaranteed to match what British Airways can book, but its ability to search multiple destinations, connecting flights and several oneworld airlines makes it a very useful research tool.
Where paid services such as SeatSpy and Reward Flight Finder really earn their keep is when the seats you want aren’t currently available. Rather than repeatedly searching yourself, you can set an alert and wait for availability to appear. I’ve personally paid for SeatSpy several times when looking for specific reward flights and found it worthwhile.
Our approach would therefore be to use the free tools first and only pay for an alert service when you have a specific redemption you’re struggling to find. There is little reason to pay a monthly subscription for straightforward searches that Avios or Flight Time Calendar can already perform for free.
Finally, treat all of these sites as search tools rather than confirmation that you have secured a reward seat. Few, if any, are showing truly live Avios inventory, and availability can change quickly. Always confirm that the flights are actually available to book through the relevant airline before transferring points, booking hotels or making any other non-refundable travel arrangements.
