Miles+Points: Double-Dip with Air France KLM and Accor Hotels

Flying Blue – the frequent flyer programme of Air France KLM – and Accor Live Limitless (ALL) – the loyalty programme for Accor Hotels – have an interesting reciprocal offer that rewards travellers using both schemes.

Miles+Points awards additional Flying Blue miles when staying at an Accor hotel and also gives extra ALL Reward points for flying on Air France KLM.

This is in addition to the normal miles/points & status benefits earned as part of your stay.

So how does this work and is it worth joining?

Who are Accor Hotels?

Accor is an international hotel group which includes brands such as Ibis, Novotel, Mercure, Pullman, Mövenpick, Fairmont, Sofitel and Raffles. Accor also operates the ALL – Accor Live Limitless loyalty and booking programme.

How does Miles+Points Work?

  • Fly with Air France and KLM (Flying Blue): Earn 1 ALL Reward point for every 2 Euros spent on a flight
  • Stay at an Accor hotel (ALL): Earn 1 Flying Blue mile for every 1 Euros spent on a hotel stay

Everything with Miles+Points can be treated as a bonus in addition to the rewards you would normally earn for your flight or hotel stay.

Welcome gift

When you have registered for Miles+Points you can earn up to 10 bonus XP (Experience Points) towards your Flying Blue status and up to 2 bonus Status Nights towards your ALL status.

When you complete your first eligible flight you earn a bonus:

  • 5 XP (Flying Blue) and 1 Status Night (ALL)

When you complete your first eligible hotel stay you earn a bonus:

  • 5 XP (Flying Blue) and 1 Status Night (ALL)

 Important things to note

  • Qualifying flights must both be marketed (ie have a Air France or KLM flight number) and operated by either Air France or KLM
  • Certain hotels that are part of the Accor Group are not part of the ALL programme and stays do not qualify for Points+Miles.  The list of hotels is here
  • If you have previously linked your ALL account to another airline partner, you generally cannot switch it to Flying Blue until that other link has existed for 12 months
  • For ALL Rewards points earning on Air France KLM, applicable spend excludes government/airport taxes  fees but includes paid extras such as upgrades, seat selection, extra baggage and paid meals.
  • For Flying Blue earning at an Accor hotel, the relevant spend includes most things charged to your room bill but excludes taxes, tips & service charges.
  • Hotel stays booked through an online travel agent do not usually qualify for points earning so in order to benefit from this scheme, book direct or through your corporate travel agent.

How do I join?

Both accounts need to be linked in order for both parties to award your points:

  1. You need to be a member of both Flying Blue and ALL
  2. Log into your Flying Blue account
  3. Scroll down to the Flying Blue & ALL section to link your accounts

Transfers between Flying Blue and ALL

Points and miles can also be transferred between ALL and Flying Blue although neither is particularly decent value:

  • 2,000 Reward points > 2,000 Flying Blue Miles
  • 4,000 Flying Blue Miles > 1,000 Reward points

ALL Reward points have a fixed redemption value of €0.02 each, so 2,000 points are worth €40. Converting them into 2,000 Flying Blue Miles therefore means effectively paying 2 cents per mile. If you value Flying Blue Miles at around 1p each, you’re giving up roughly half their potential value.

The reverse direction is pretty much the same. 4,000 Flying Blue Miles, which we value at around £40, convert into just 1,000 ALL Reward points – worth €20.

Should you transfer points between ALL and Flying Blue?

Unless you need a small top-up for a specific redemption, or have limited use for one of the schemes, we would avoid transferring in either direction.  The real attraction of Miles+Points isn’t transferring rewards between the programmes – it’s earning rewards in both programmes at the same time without sacrificing your normal earnings.

Our Take

If you’re already a member of both Flying Blue and ALL, Miles+Points is an easy win.

Once you’ve linked your accounts, the additional rewards are earned automatically. Stay at an eligible Accor hotel and you can earn Flying Blue Miles as well as your usual ALL rewards. Fly with Air France or KLM and you can earn ALL Reward points alongside your usual Flying Blue Miles and XP.

The rewards aren’t enormous – you’re effectively getting roughly another 1% back on eligible spending based on our valuations – but there’s very little effort involved once your accounts are linked.

The welcome bonus potentially makes the scheme even more interesting. Up to 10 additional Flying Blue XP and two ALL Status Nights will not change the world but could be useful if you’re working towards status in either programme.

For someone who regularly flies with Air France or KLM and stays with Accor, the proposition is pretty strong: you are being rewarded by both loyalty programmes on both sides of your trip.

Our view: if you already have Flying Blue and ALL accounts, link them. There’s very little reason to leave these additional miles, points and status credits on the table.
